Welcome to the Training Working Group pages. The TWG aims to provide central co-ordination of training and support activities across the Collaboration in relation to preparing Cochrane reviews. The group was established in October 2008 following a meeting in Cambridge to discuss the training needs of Cochrane authors and editorial teams resulting from the release of the new Handbook and RevMan 5.
The formation of the TWG coincides with the recent Strategic Review which recommended that training become an additional purpose of the Collaboration, alongside the production of systematic reviews. This recognises both the importance of training in improving the quality of Cochrane reviews and the broader role the Collaboration has in capactiy building for systematic reviews.

Who are we and what do we do?
The group is convened by the training teams based at the UK Cochrane Centre and Australasian Cochrane Centre, and has an executive made of members from review groups, methods groups and centres (see TWG Coordinating Group). We have several projects underway (see Projects), including a project funded by the Collaboration's Opportunities Fund to develop a training area on cochrane.org that will house a core set of approved training and support materials.
On these pages you will find more detailed information about the remit of the TWG, which other groups and entities it collaborates with, membership and more information on the various projects that are currently underway.
If you have comments or questions about the Training Working Group, please contact Steve McDonald (ACC) or Phil Wiffen (UKCC).
